Sunday 21 – Monday 22 March 2027 · Pacific Time
San Francisco is where we met and fell in love; Oakland is where we built our home. The bay has held every chapter of us so far, and it is where our first act begins. Three chapters in Act I: a neon-lit party at Viridian with an open bar and mahjong tiles clicking past midnight, a small morning ceremony at the top of City Hall's Grand Staircase, and one golden afternoon on the grass of Dolores Park before the evening carries us on to Shanghai.
March 21 is our anniversary, the day this whole story began, and the day we would have married if City Hall opened on Sundays. So instead, the date that started everything opens the celebration: a full buyout of a Hong Kong neon cocktail bar. Wong Kar Wai lighting, '90s R&B, an open bar, an Asian fusion menu, and The Mahjong Project running tables all night. No speeches. Come when you can, leave when you like.

A cosy, classic San Francisco City Hall wedding at the top of the Grand Staircase. The space holds only a few, so the ceremony is limited to ten guests. If you are one of them, you will hear from us directly, and we cannot wait.

Blankets spread on the hillside, the city skyline beyond, and a spread of Bi-Rite, Tartine, and Mission Picnic passed hand to hand. Bring sunglasses and a layer, and stay as long as the light does. This is one long, sunlit afternoon to celebrate with everyone who came to San Francisco, before the evening carries us on to Shanghai.

Evening departure from SFO. If you are coming to Act II, you do not need to be on our flight, only in Shanghai by Wednesday night.
Mid-50s to mid-60s Fahrenheit, around 13 to 18 Celsius. Late March can still rain. Oakland stays warmer than the city, and Dolores Park is genuinely sunny while the Mission stays windy.
Nothing black tie, anywhere. Sunday is bar-dressy, and the room rewards a bit of color. If you are joining the City Hall ceremony, smart casual is the note; the park afterward is whatever you can sit on grass in.
BART connects SFO, downtown SF, and Oakland directly. Parking near Viridian is easy, and the bar is a four-minute walk from 19th St BART. Parking near Dolores Park is difficult; the park is about a twelve-minute walk from 16th St Mission BART, and the J Church streetcar stops right beside it. Uber and Waymo are everywhere.
Monday is a working day, and we would so love to have you there. If the ceremony or the park party is calling you, tuck that day off away now; March will thank you.
Wednesday 24 – Monday 29 March 2027 · China Standard Time
Shanghai knew one of us first. Three years of living here turned the city from an address into a love, and like all great loves, it comes with the marriage. They call it the Pearl of the Orient, and a century of international concessions left it fluent in two worlds, art deco lane houses standing shoulder to shoulder with the Pudong skyline. The city is vast, but its heart is compact and easy to wander. And like everything about this wedding, your days here unfold in three chapters of their own: a morning of dumpling-making, a grand Saturday that ends on the river at one of the world's finest vegetarian tables, and one long, easy lunch to close.
Arrive any time Thursday. We have planned nothing at all, on purpose, so you can land, reset, and find your feet. Our local coordinators are on hand whenever you would like an early taste of the city; a first walk along the Bund, or under the plane trees of the former French Concession.
Hands in flour at 10 AM: badly pleated dumplings, xiao long bao, scallion pancakes, about two hours of it. This is the icebreaker, so come hungry and meet people. After lunch, around 1 PM, our coordinators lead a slow walk through the former French Concession, plane trees and lane houses all the way.
The full day, if you want it: Guyi Garden at 10, the Propaganda Poster Art Centre at 2, and a browse through Shangsheng Xinsuo before we regroup. Then the evening itself: a private river charter at 5:30, timed to the moment the skyline lights come on, and dinner at 7:30 at a two-Michelin-star vegetarian restaurant in a Zen colonial townhouse. This is the dress-up night of Act II, and it does not end at dessert; the after-party runs 9 to midnight at INS.

The metro is excellent, cheap, and signed in English. DiDi is the local ride app. Traffic is heavy at rush hour, so leave a buffer for Saturday's cruise.

Tuesday 30 March – Sunday 4 April 2027 · Central Time
Mexico City is our favorite city anywhere. We love its inclusive, relaxed spirit, and it is an easy flight from almost everywhere our people live; the right place to bring the three acts to a grand, happy ending. Here the adventure runs through jacaranda streets and courtyard restaurants, in a city that treats a long lunch as a birthright. The final three chapters unfold here: an afternoon eating our way through the city, an evening of mezcal that ends at Rosetta's table, and one last, loudest lunch at Contramar to send everyone home full and happy.
The city sits at 7,350 feet, about 2,240 metres, and it catches almost everyone out. Light dinner, lots of water, early night. Go gently and Thursday will be much better.
About three and a half hours through Roma or Centro Histórico, eating the whole way. Vegetarian routing arranged in advance. Wear shoes you can walk in and arrive hungry.
Ninety minutes through five to seven mezcals with someone who can explain what you are drinking. Then dinner at Rosetta, in a restored Porfirian townhouse, with a full vegetable-led tasting menu. The dress-up night of Act III.

The grand finale starts with a morning walk through Coyoacán: cobbled streets, the market, and Casa Azul if you have booked tickets (they sell out weeks early). Then drift north to Roma for a looooong lunch at Contramar, the loudest, happiest room in the city on a Saturday; keep the afternoon clear. If you still have legs after, Chapultepec Park and the Anthropology Museum are ten minutes away, open until six.

No schedule, no plans; the tour ends the way it began, with time that is yours. Sleep in, take a last slow walk under the jacarandas, and fly home whenever suits you. Three cities, nine chapters, and all of you in them: that is the whole story, and we will be telling it for the rest of our lives.
Drink far more water than feels necessary, go easy on alcohol for the first day, and expect stairs to be harder than usual. It passes in about 48 hours for most people.
Roma Norte and Condesa are walkable, leafy, and closest to everything we are doing. Juárez is a little cheaper and just as central. Polanco is smarter and quieter but you will be in a car more. Uber is cheap, reliable, and how most people move. Roma to Condesa is often a pleasant walk. Do not hail unmarked cars on the street.
Pesos, and cards are widely accepted, though small places are cash-only. Drink bottled or filtered water. The sun at altitude is stronger than the temperature suggests, so bring sunscreen.
Warm dry days near 80 Fahrenheit, about 26 Celsius, dropping sharply after dark. Days call for short sleeves and evenings for a jacket.
Roma and Condesa are relaxed. Rosetta is the one night worth dressing for, but smart is plenty. Nobody needs a tie.

Before you ask
No. Most people will come to one. The Sunday party in Oakland and the Monday Dolores Park party are the open, easy ones if travel is not realistic.
We are covering the food and the events. Flights, rooms, and your travel time are on you; we have tried to leave enough room in the calendar to plan well. For rooms, start with our suggestions: the Shanghai stay guide and the Mexico City stay guide.
Yes to the Oakland pre-party and the park picnic. The Shanghai and Mexico City dinners are long and late, so those are better without.
None; getting on a plane is gift enough. The red envelope, however, is mandatory by Will (as he said in China…). It is a tradition, and the amount does not matter (although we do know who loves us more 😏 jkjk); the blessing tucked inside is the part we keep.
Depends on the table, and we planned each one. In Shanghai, the wedding dinner at Fu He Hui is fully vegan: every course, for everyone, at one of the finest kitchens anywhere. In Mexico City, Rosetta’s dinner is prix fixe, and there will be a non-vegetarian menu available. Everywhere else — Viridian, Lost Heaven, Contramar, the park — you order whatever you like, with guaranteed good vegetarian choices.
For Shanghai and Mexico City, aim for autumn 2026. Fares climb steeply after the turn of the year, and Shanghai visas take time.
